COND Graphic User Interface

The following descriptions and screenshots are supposed to give one an idea of the operability and an overview of the software.

Start of the Program

After the start of the program the main interface opens with the usual taskbar and the toolbars beneath it, the main and diagram toolbar.
When creating a new project, the window of the New Project Wizard opens for the input of important project information.

Material database

After entering important project data a window of material and construction database which is contained in COND 2 opens automatically. Now the user can now make a first choice about the first material layer of the construction which is changeable later on without difficulties (Fig. 2).

The implemented material database is quite comprehensive. More than five hundred materials are shown tabulated and can be sorted alphabetically and filtered with respect to material name or category. Also, own materials and constructions can be added and managed inside a user database smoothly. After choosing a material the user is guided to the main user interface.

Input of construction

At the left side of the program window (Fig.3) at the upper part is the construction sketch located. The corresponding input and output area for the parameters of the selected material of the construction component is at the right of it. Another chart underneath the construction sketch presents the calculation results and the temperature and moisture profile in the construction. Alongside parameters of the entire construction are listed. The sketch is initialized with the layer of the material one chooses while creating a new project.

The layers of the construction are managed easily. Layers can easily be changed, deleted and added. The main toolbar shows a button to add more layers at the warm or cold side of the current chosen materials. If another material in the database should replace a chosen one then the material and construction database (Fig.2) can be opened via main toolbar. Intuitively double-clicking at the corresponding layer is another option to open the material database. To change the default layer width of 100 mm or to modify any of the other parameters of the material properties there is an input area located at the right side of the sketch.

Selection of climat data

If one chooses the warm or cold air layer outside of the construction of the sketch the input and output area of the material parameters is changing to an input area for the calculation climate. One can select different climatic specifications according to DIN 4108 or DIN-EN-ISO 13788 as well as DIN-EN-ISO 6946. There is also the possibility of a custom input of the temperature and relative humidity for summer as well as winter. Even an adjustment of the thermal transfer resistance is possible.

Display of calculation results

The advantage of the used analytical COND-algorithm is that every consequence of changes of the construction or the basic conditions are always currently shown. After each change the calculations are carried out automatically in the background without notice to the user. The COND method provides results for all layers of the construction and in addition considers moisture distribution inside the construction layers which are properly visible for the user underneath the sketch. The chart contains the temperature and the moisture profile in the construction at the end of the condensation period. Furthermore for every layer the hygroscopic moisture content is shown in bright blue and the estimated condensate is shown in dark blue. This gives an immediate impression of the moisture load on the construction and illustrates impressively the importance of the capillary action and moisture redistribution. While using the diagram toolbar there is the option to switch the display between the chart of the moisture profile and the vapor pressures in the construction.

At the taskbar (Edit-Copy respectively Edit-Export) there is the possibility to issue the sketch or chart for further usage. Alongside the chart on the right the calculated parameters of the entire construction are shown, including the display of the construction thickness, the dry thermal transfer resistance of the construction as well as the thermal transmission coefficient of the construction U-value, the U-value in dry condition and in moisture dependent condition. In addition at this point the program provides an indication if the construction is endangered. Other presented data are the condensation mass after condensation period and the days of the drying time.

Creation and printing a report

Through the taskbar File-Report setup/Print preview or via toolbar one gets an output of the results. The Window Report Preview Dialog (Fig. 4) contains the print preview and the preferences for the data output. Here one can choose different options for the layout, the used data and their presentation. At the first tab “General Appearance” the user can set the page setup and at the next tab “Input data” he chooses the output of the construction sketch, the charts of the material and the climate data, and the display of the surface resistance. The tab “Diagrams” provides the opportunity to show the vapor pressure profiles each in a separate diagram. A variety of available options for the analysis of the results according to DIN 4108 can be picked at the tab “Results”. Furthermore there are more selections for the calculation and for the display of the results and parameters in the form of tables. They present the calculated temperatures, vapor pressure and saturated vapor pressure analogous with the Glaser scheme. Moreover the amounts of condensate and the redistribution widths for each layer are shown. At least in the tab “Final comments” the user is given the opportunity to add additional information about the project which will appear in the print-out.
